Monkey Mind

Wondering what does the term ‘monkey mind’ mean? ‘Monkey mind’ is a state of mind where a person feels unsettled, restless or confused. It is a point where lot of things are going in your mind and your inability to tame those thoughts has a negative effect on your mood.

It feels like lot of monkeys are jumping around and screeching on your mind, which makes you unhappy, restless and leads to mental and physical fatigue.

It also interferes with your creativity and restricts you from moving ahead to follow your passion.

For example, you want to be independent but at the same time you want to stay integrated too, you want to lead a bachelor’s life but want to be married too, you want to do a business but you are enable to do it due to your family needs. The thought of being abandoned or shamed for expressing yourself create havoc in a person’s mind.

That’s why it becomes really important to get hold of these repressed and suppressed energies that never got a chance to manifest themselves.

While some motivational speakers may say that acceptance, meditation or breathing exercises would help in overcoming ‘monkey mind’ but that is not true. These things don’t work at all. Many people come back saying they tried these things but it didn’t bring their mind at peace.

There are other motivational and inspirational speakers who tend to go deeper into a person’s subconscious mind and control these repressed energies. Such motivational speakers help in bridging the knowing-doing gap and motivate people to gather courage and live their life.

That’s how you get comfortable with yourself and make peace with your ‘monkey mind’.
